I always walk in feeling like a slouchy version of the Tin Man and walk out feeling light and loose. Karen’s clear, specific and thoughtful with the cues she gives, making it possible to move through the poses without having to twist and turn constantly to peek at her example, which is rare. I really appreciate that she checks in throughout the class, then provides modifications or adjustments, always meeting me where i am on that particular day.
As a cyclist, I have super tight hips and legs as well as horrible posture from hours hunched over the handlebars. I decided to book a one-on-one yoga class with Karen because I felt as though I needed to address these things in a way that is also sensitive to some specific injuries I’ve had. It was perhaps the most productive ninety minutes of my life not only with regards to the specific poses Karen walked me through, but also in learning about my body. The suppleness I felt in my body after yoga with Karen is a complete relief of years of pain. I really hope to continue practicing and working through my “sticky spots.” In addition to all of this, Karen creates an environment which makes it very inviting to open up and really relax into the session.
